The Conference

Two full days of practical learning sessions – translation and terminology workshops (in English, French and Portuguese) – for the professional translator and interpreter of technical, engineering, scientific, and industrial materials delivered by engineers and technicians with extensive experience in translation, and by professional translators and interpreters and other leading experts in their field.

Conferece Organizers

The Conference is organized by TRADULÍNGUAS, a Portuguese leading translation company offering language services worldwide and training workshops for translators since 2005. TRADULÍNGUAS has already organized other internacional events, including the 2007 TRADULÍNGUAS Translation Conference, which attracted more than 170 participants from 17 countries and 20 speakers from 8 countries and the TRADULINGUAS International Translation Conference on Health Sciences (2008), with more than 200 participants from 23 countries and speakers from 5 countries.

This year’s specialized conference will also be hosted by the prestigious Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas (Universidade Nova de Lisboa), home to one the most sought-after translation courses in Portugal.

Conference Program

26 educational sessions (practical workshops, expert presentations and professional development discussions) plus 2 advanced Wordfast sessions, a Technical Visit to the Portuguese National Laboratory of Civil Engineering (LNEC), and an attendance of about 200 people from various countries.

Keynote Speakers

Marie-Josée de Saint Robert, Chief of the Languages Services Department at the United Nations Office in Geneva (UNOG), will talk about the research and validation of technical terminology at the United Nations.

Manuel de Oliveira Barata, Head of the Portuguese Language Department at the Directorate-General for Translation of the European Commission, will be one of the Keynote Speakers at our Conference.

Jody Byrne, Technical Translator and Teacher of Translation, Localisation and Translation Technologies at the University of Sheffield (UK), will be one of the Keynote Speakers at our Conference. Jody will also conduct a translation workshop.

Renato Beninatto, CEO and Chief Instigator at Milengo, will be one of the Keynote Speakers at our Conference. He will talk about the gerontology of the Translation Industry…

  1. The organizers of the International Technical Translation Conference in Lisbon have published photos of the conference. Quite unusually (at least when compared to other translation conferences worldwide), they posted not only the photos, but also brief references to the people appearing on the photos. Kudos for them! :-)
